"Firefly Photography is donating money to Heifer International every time a bride books a wedding."

by Brandy Gray

The joy in serving others through art, that’s why I do what I do.  This year, I am launching a way that I can do more as a wedding photographer, to reach those who may not be planning a wedding, but struggling to feed their families.

Imagine a village where one family is gifted a flock of chickens along with the training on how to raise them and produces 200 eggs per hen (x10-50) to feed their children and trade with their neighbors.  Their neighbor buys eggs in exchange for milk from their goat that produces up to 4 gallons per day.  The families use money from selling excess to buy wool from their other neighbor who is raising goats.  The livestock also fertilize the crops which yield higher amounts of fruits and vegetables thanks to the bees that were gifted.  The village begins to thrive and take pride in the education and hard work they were given the tools to pass on.  All of this is made possible by Heifer International, my favorite nonprofit organization.  Heifer is working to end world hunger in 19 countries across four continents. Heifer works in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Ethiopia, Honduras, India, Kenya, Malawi, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, the US and Zambia.

Between now and Christmas, any weddings that are booked for my services (contracts and deposit required, n/i associates), I will donate $500 to Heifer International on the couple’s wedding day.  Each booking will lead to 1 heifer, 4 goats, 4 sheep, 16 honeybee hives or 25 flocks of chicks.  My goal is to donate a total of $7000 (14 bookings).  Please join me in spreading the word, empowering and caring for those less fortunate, and serving wedding couples with beautiful images they will cherish throughout their marriage.
