Daniel and Darion Enriquez

How did you meet?

We met online in November of 2017, and our first date was a play at The Woodlawn Theatre. I still have our admission tickets and notes we took on our shared program pamphlet.

How did you know he was “The One”?

I knew Daniel was the one the moment I met him. He is kind, understanding, compassionate, selfless, and brings out those qualities in me. I am my most comfortable, true self around him.

How did he propose?

Daniel proposed on a winter trip in Colorado we took to celebrate our five-year anniversary. We visited Sapphire Point Overlook early one morning before the crowd arrived and set up our tripod for photos like we always did. Except this time, he secretly pressed record and captured our proposal on video with a gorgeous view.

Describe your wedding planning process

Who helped with the planning?

I enjoyed the freedom of planning and creating every single detail myself and leaned on Daniel and my little sister, who was the best maid of honor, when I had decision fatigue and needed extra support! Seeing my hard work come to life was so rewarding!

Did you hire a planner or day-of coordinator?

We hired a day-of coordinator, Stephanie, from Sweet Gardenia Weddings. She went above and beyond the month and days leading up to our big day. We were completely at peace and present knowing she was professionally handling all the tiny details and challenges of the day.

Did you DIY any aspect of your wedding?

I used our wedding monogram on everything I coiled to create a lasting memento and DIY’d our save the dates, decor, welcome sign, newspapers, and all our signage with the help of Canva and Etsy templates. This included items like bar and dinner menus, cornhole boards, signature drink cups, kid activity books, bathroom baskets, and our selfie mirror.

Where did you save the most?

We saved by having a Sunday wedding to use our budget in other ways we felt were more important to us. A huge plus was that every vendor we wanted was available on our wedding date.

Where did you splurge?

We splurged the most on flowers, candles, and heavy greenery that photographed beautifully. Our florist Palisades Designs did the most amazing job bringing my Pinterest dreams to life. It was worth the investment!

Why did you choose your venue?

Willow Ridge was more than just a beautiful venue. We fell in love with the breathtaking views, dog friendliness, add-ons, cabins, and amenities. It gave us a memorable wedding weekend with our family and friends.

Did you incorporate any special traditions or sentimental details in your ceremony or reception?

I carried a pendant photo of my late grandfather on my bouquet and dedicated my bouquet to my mother. Sharing this special moment with her was my way of honoring her for dedicating her whole life to being an amazing mother, role model, and friend.

What was your most stressful decision?

We chose to keep our wedding intimate with our closest family and friends, so narrowing down our guestlist and standing firm on our decision caused some stress.

What turned out to be your best decision surrounding the big day?

Our dogs mean the absolute world to us and having them as a part of our wedding was the best decision we made. With the help of The Pet Gal, they walked down the aisle with our best man and maid of honor, captured photos from their point of view, and interacted with our guests during cocktail hour. We now have the most beautiful photos and a painting that will forever remind us of the love we shared as a family.

Tell Us About...

Your dress:

My dress was an ivory, satin, fitted dress with a detachable train.

Your flowers:

Our flowers were a mixed assortment of white blooms including roses, hydrangeas, linear flowers, baby’s breath, and greenery.

The food:

For dinner we had chicken cordon bleu with poblano sauce, dressed mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and a dinner roll. We had a taco bar as a late-night snack.

The cake:

We had a three-tiered vintage cake with buttercream piping and a crescent garland that cradled the front side. Our flavors included vanilla with Bavarian filling, raspberry swirl with Bavarian filling, and pecan with caramel filling.

Recap your big day for us

What made you laugh?

At the beginning of our ceremony our officiate told us to take a moment and admire each other because it would be the best we’d ever look. I showed myself off to Daniel with a flirty, shoulder shimmy and we both laughed. It helped ease my nerves and get a good look at my handsome groom!

What made you cry?

Our private last dance made us both cry. Having that final moment alone together to reflect on the best day of my life made me wish it didn’t have to end.

What were the most memorable moments?

Every moment was memorable, but my three favorites were:

Locking eyes with Daniel as I walked down the aisle: time stood still as we held hands for the entire ceremony and said, “I DO!”

Our first dance: We took four dance lessons the month of our wedding and hugged proudly at the end when we nailed down our routine. It was so fun!

Our sparkler exit leading to our getaway car: it felt like we were living a romantic movie scene as Daniel picked me up to get in the car and drive away. It began to drizzle as we cruised the hill country roads, and we were full of adrenaline and happiness.

Did anything unexpected happen?

We were so worried about the possibility of rain the entire week leading up to our wedding that we never considered wind being an issue. The day before was beautiful and sunny, but in the typical Texas weather fashion, we woke up to a gloomy, windy wedding day. The strong wind compromised a few small details and decor items and the sun never came out for golden hour photos. Lucky for us, our amazing vendors never skipped a beat, and the day was still beautiful!

What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?

Embrace the wedding planning journey and special moments and events leading up to the big day. This only happens once. Remember that in the end, it’s the love and commitment that you and your partner share that truly matters. So be present, intentional, and have fun celebrating your LOVE!

What did you look forward to most as Mr. and Mrs.?

I looked forward to finally being husband and wife and beginning a new chapter of our life together with so much more meaning.
