Bundle Me Up….

If you are planning an enchanting rustic wedding this fall at our stunning Gruene Wedding Estate venue, the perfect wedding favor is simple. Wrapped blankets or scarfs! This is a great way to add an extra flair to your wedding color scheme. Show off those breathtaking blue, blush pink or lavender hues, that your guest can drape themselves in when it gets a little chill at dusk. Attach a short and sweet note and be sure to have the thoughtful gift placed at the reception entrance. Rest assured our open-air venue has robust heaters to keep you and your guest cozy, but a thoughtful blanket or scarf will be a sentimental gift they will keep with them always.

Hot Cocoa Mason Jars

Who doesn’t love a cup of hot cocoa in the winter? This is a tasty gift that can be enjoyed during the celebration or saved for later. Spicy it up with mini-liquor bottles to add a splash of Bailey’s, Fireball, or Crown for the adults.

S’ more Kit Favors

Prepare pre-packaged s’ more kits for a gift your guest can open during the reception and toast some delicious treats over our outdoor fire pits. The kiddos will appreciate these the most and be thrilled they have something to look forward to!

Wildflower Seeds

Let your love blossom! Craft a catchy rhyme that doubles as a “thank you for coming” note and attach it to a bag of wildflower seeds. Select a variety of flowers or use seeds specific to your wedding floral selection. Your guest can sprinkle in the magical evening’s memory into their very own gardens back home and have a special memory of your wedding day when the blooms begin to blossom.

Mini Champagne Bottles

Pop the champagne; you’re changing your last name! Miniature champagne bottles can be customized to your liking and provided either at the beginning or end of the wedding reception. There are a couple pros to both. First, if you provide the champagne bottle as a gift when your guest arrives at the reception, it starts the evening off with a “POP” and the party is officially a hit!

Should you decide to hold off until the end of the night and pass the champagne bottles out as a “goodbye” and “thank you for coming” gift, the bottles are least likely to get left behind. Holding off until the end of the night can serve as a “cheers” opportunity to you and your soon to be hubby as you exiting the venue to leave for the evening.

Take-Home Goodie Bags

Between the delicious dinner and enriched wedding cake, your guest may be stuffed to the max. However, after an evening of dancing and socializing, one is bound to begin catching a little sweet tooth towards the end of the night. Have a dessert station placed out towards the reception exit. Take it up a notch and have personalized take-home dessert bags made with a catchy phrase and your wedding date. This will give those guests who may have missed cake an opportunity to have a dessert, as well as serve guests a quick “to go” bag as they head home for the night.

Wedding Koozie

Can one really have too many koozies? We think not! Design a unique wedding koozie featuring your theme and celebration date. Have the gift available at the entrance to your Texas Hill Country wedding reception as a “welcome to the party” and a “thank you for coming”. Your guest will be thankful for the gesture and your gift will be featured in every wedding photo all night long!

Take this gift up to one notch by tying on a personalized bottle opener to each koozie! This gift is a fan favorite as it can be used long after your wedding day.

Fur Friend Favors

This year’s ever-growing trend is a mason jar (or doggie bags) full of treats for our furry friends! Many guests had to leave their fur babies at home alone. Pack a “to-go” bag of dog bones/treats for your guest to take on their way out. Have a pup or two of your own? Place a family picture of all of you at the gift table and mention the doggie bag from Mr. or Mrs (Insert doggie name here).

Although you may have some leftovers, it is better to have a little too many than not enough. A good rule of thumb is making at a minimum of 10 extra wedding favors. We also advise ordering a sample product before placing a full order. Make sure the product looks how you want it to and is a good base to your craft. To ensure everything dries in enough time, or arrives on time, have the wedding favors prepared or delivered at least three weeks before your wedding date. If you are baking treats and they need to be fresh, make sure the mason jar, personalized bag, decorated box, etc. is completely finished, so you can easily stuff the container a day or two before your celebration! Lastly, you are the bride! Between getting ready, and greeting family that has come into town, be sure you have designated a reliable family member or friend to deliver the wedding favors to the venue. This should be the least of your worry, so mark it off your list as soon as it is assigned to your trusted party guest.

GIFT GIVING GUIDE FOR EVERYONE IN YOUR WEDDING PARTY

Everything has fallen into place for your perfect rustic and elegant wedding celebration. Your loved ones and “A” team bridal party have been there for you every step of the way! How can you possibly thank and show your appreciation for them?  While giving a gift is completely up to you, it is typical for the bride to gift her wedding party with a little something to show her appreciation. They have been a part of your planning process from the bridal shower, to the bachelor and bachelorette weekends, investing in typical wedding expenses such as travel, wedding attire, etc. They are happy be a part of the day, and in turn you are ready to show how thankful you are for each of them! But where to begin? What type of gifts do you get for each set of groups in your bridal party? Here are a few gift ideas for

Mother of The Bride

This is your time to show Mom just how much you have appreciated all of her never-ending support. She has been there for you from day one, guiding you in all stages of your life. Not to mention she has been a rock these past few months planning your dream outdoor wedding in Gruene, Texas. Being the classy southern lady you are, you want to show your appreciation and gratitude to her. After all, you learned your manners and thoughtfulness from none other than Mama herself! But where to start? Here are a few ideas to get the wheels turning:

 A sentimental gift such as a handmade blanket with pictures and that quote Mama is always saying. This is sure to bring happy tears to her eyes and an item she can cuddle up with when she is missing her grown up “baby”. The popular site “Etsy” is a go-to starter for this type of gift.

There is nothing better than a gift that keeps on giving. Sign her up for the Wine of The Month Club, like Dry Comal Creek! No one knows her wine taste better than you. Pick out a variety of Cabernets, Pinot Niors, or Riesling that will be a savory sip each month. She will be delighted to invite you over once a month to relish in the sweet gift from her daughter. What better way to have a staple “ladies’” night” to stay in touch after becoming a newlywed?

Of course, you cannot go wrong with a gifted spa experience. The Mother-Daughter duo that runs The Body Shoppe can assist with recommendations. Both of you have been so busy planning and putting together the hill country wedding of your dreams. Mom will absolutely love the opportunity to relax and be pampered!

Mother of The Groom

Your new husband has grown into the perfect gentleman thanks to your future mother-in-law. How do you thank the woman that brought the most amazing man into your life? A few ideas would be to sign her up for a flower subscription, have your husband write his mother a sweet note each month and send her a beautiful bouquet to let her know you are thinking of her. She will be so happy that you both continuously think of her! A special note is the key to this gift, and it will be a great way for everyone to stay connected.

Gift a charming frame to your soon-to-be MIL and be sure her and the Groom get a photo together on the big day. Send her a proper print when you have your wedding photos back and she will have a sentimental memory to look at every day in her home. She will be so proud to show off the photo to her family and friends that come to visit.

Do not forget there is always that Spa experience you got for your mother, too. Why not make it a bonus bonding event by inviting your new MIL along? Encourage them to make a day out of it! Stop in the Huisache for lunch and finish with a spa experience. She will love that you included her, making her feel officially a part of a new family.

Groomsmen

Grooms, we understand guys typically do not get very sentimental in gift giving to other guys. However, do not forget about your men that are standing by your side. These guys have been through it all with you and are so proud of the man you have grown into. After all, you must be something special to get to marry this Southern Bell!

Let us keep it simple with personalized bourbon bottles. Feel free to throw in a matching glass set and rock cubes. There are quite a few companies you can find online that are customizing the bourbon gift box. Your boys will be thrilled to share a drink on the rocks to toast to your new chapter of life with you.

A monogrammed duffle bag or a travel bag is a perfect way to personalize the useful gift. Everyone needs a durable travel bag! Jon Hart does a very nice Texas Tough Leather bag that the groomsmen will be very thankful for.

There is always the option of a nice golf shoe bag. This can also be personalized through any golf brand vendor. Speaking of golf…what a great way to invite them out for a post wedding round of golf, while your new bride is away at her spa weekend with the girls! Talk about winning at being newly-weds!

Bridal Party

Your girls have been there for you through thick and thin. They listened to you gush about your love when you first met your future husband. They held you when things may have been hard at times and they were a sounding board when you may of needed some reason. After all this time, they have adopted your husband as part of your group and adore him for how happy he makes you. These are your bride tribe gals!

From capturing the surprise proposal from afar, to planning your bridal shower and organizing your unforgettable bachelorette party, these girls have been a pivotal part of your hill country wedding. Some of them have been friends from elementary, a couple you met in college as you were growing into yourself, and a one or two may be your co-worker turned confidant. However they became a part of your circle, you want to show them how much you truly care for each of them and thank them for their unwavering support.  We have a few thoughtful and fun gifts that will bring a sparkle to your bridesmaids’ eyes.

Speaking of sparkles, why not gift them each a pair of earrings and a necklace that you would like for them to wear during the ceremony. These double as classic set they can wear for an evening out, promising to remind them of your day and bring a smile to their faces as well!

Comfy monogrammed robes that they can wear while they are getting dolled up for your “Sparkle & Hay” wedding day! They will love the opportunity to have a group photo op to kick off the festivities! This would be a great way to showcase your farmhouse styled bridal room.

Customized bridesmaid tumbler and straw. This is a gift they can use throughout the evening to of course, keep their beverage cold, but depending on your customization one they can also share cute photos of. Get that matching #hastag for your wedding theme and have it on the tumbler. Monogram their initials so they can keep on using the gift for days to come. It is our recommendation you package this gift in a cute tote bag. What a great way to set them up with a few “must have” items for a weekend trip!

 Flower Girl/Ring Bearer

How adorable are those two little ones that are dressed to the nines in their little cowboy boots, mini suspenders, or and princess toole!? They are the star of the show – at least for a moment – when your flower girl is walking down the aisle sprinkling your signature wedding flowers down the historic Texas chapel, stealing the hearts of every captive audience member. She practiced so many times for you to get it just right! The dashing ring bearer, proud to be in shiny new boots and wearing a tie like Daddy, is holding your ring like it is the most prized possession. Of course, these kiddos do a fantastic job and you want to be sure they know how much it meant to them to have them apart of your day.

We have some ideas that can be sure to keep them happy and entertained through the reception. In this recommendation we think it is best to present this gift as a “bundle pack”. First, try a soccer ball (or any sporting ball they fancy), with his/her name on it, so he/she can beam with pride to show it off to the other children. In turn, they will be able to play all evening long – their parents will thank you

Another super sweet idea is a personalized teddy bear, dressed to match their wedding attire. They will have something to hold onto for years to come and cuddle up with at night. This is something that, in addition to the sports ball, they will get to treasure. Lastly, in the gift bundle pack, we recommend a children’s tumbler they can drink out of throughout the evening. One, they will not lose their cup and two they will have another item to be proud to resemble they are a part of your day! These gifts can be a surprise or something you can build up their excitement about receiving if they are nervous the day of.

If you are more of a “gift an experience” type, we love that as well! There is nothing children love more than an opportunity to hang out with their favorite adults and go to a theme park! Gift them a day to Schlitterbahn with you and your husband. Take them out for a fun-filled day they won’t forget as a thank you for being in your wedding and doing such a great job. This can also be a wonderful way to get “Children 101” practice in with your soon-to-be hubby!

We hope you can relax a little more knowing you have a few ideas to reference when you begin your list of must-get thank you gifts. These are your people. You know them better than anyone else, so stay true to what you know and gift them what you feel will best represent your relationship with them. Anything you get, your wedding party will be appreciative of. They are in your life, celebrating your day because they love you, not for the specific gift you give them as a token of appreciation. Rest assured you cannot go wrong with anything you decide to put together.

WEDDINGS IN NEW BRAUNFELS DURING COVID-19 – HOW TO STAY STRONG AS A COUPLE!

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.22″][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.25″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ header_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_text_color=”rgba(0,0,0,0)” header_2_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_3_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_4_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_4_text_color=”#006c84″ header_5_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_6_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” custom_margin=”-42px||-115px|||”]

Wow, what a year it has been! The Texas wedding season was moving along swimmingly, as well as the rest of everyone’s lives when that pesky little thing now known as Covid-19 changed everything! Let’s face it, planning a wedding has it’s ups and down even during normal times. This pandemic has made the process even more stressful. The level of uncertainty, and the process of rescheduling and postponing wedding dates the past few months has created challenges for couples and businesses across the event industry. In short, it has been an uncertain time. Stress causes conflict. Here a few tips from Gruene Estate that are now more important than ever before. Thoughtful ways that you and your significant other can stay strong as a couple in the period leading up to your wedding day.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/GE-2.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_padding=”101px|||||”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Let’s face it, any good relationship is built on equality and trust. Make sure that prior to starting the wedding planning process you have a discussion with your S.O. to ensure that he’s onboard with helping in equal ways during the wedding planning. As a established Texas Hill Country wedding venue, our experience is that the bride comes in with the vison and wedding design goals for the day. This is ok, because while your groom might not be into the intricacies of macramé, he’s probably great at other wedding tasks: negotiating contracts with vendors, managing family issues, and being the point of contact person that touches base with Gruene Estate’s in-house coordinator. Bottom line is this: there’s plenty to do, and make sure that he’s on board to help an equal amount during the stages leading up to the wedding day.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/GE-3.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Perspective is everything! While we all want the wedding day to be perfect, there is no such thing as a perfect wedding. As far as Gruene Texas wedding venues go, we are the oldest and most established. Through our venue experience, we have seen lots of fabulous Texas Hill Country weddings in the past decade. None of those events were perfect, but all of them were amazing. Each and every one of those “perfect weddings” had something small go wrong: a caterer mishap, a small timing issue in the timeline, or missed cue in the ceremony. Let go of obsessing over every last detail and trying to make it all happen the way you picture it. There will be bumps in the road and hiccups along the way, but remember, in the long run it won’t matter.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/GE-4.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Wedding planning shouldn’t be a chore or job. Make sure that you set proper boundaries and carve out time when wedding talk is off limits. This is very important, because while lots of effort goes into planning a gorgeous Texas wedding, don’t let it take over your lives. Create healthy boundaries and set aside time during the week where you are willing to discuss wedding details. Then when it’s done, be disciplined and don’t discuss it again. As we mentioned before, Gruene Estate provides an in-house coordinator who is a fabulous resource for couples to help them during the planning process. Especially, if you are one of our brides who is planning a Gruene Texas destination wedding and are living out of state. Our planner is a great resource for brides and she can connect you with various San Antonio, Austin, and New Braunfels wedding vendors.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/GE-5.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Go ahead and plan a wedding planning getaway now. We say this time and time again, but make sure you take a break and plan a short getaway for the weekend. This is a great opportunity to connect with your S.O.. Come stay at one of Gruene Estate’s vacation rentals in downtown New Braunfels. Take in a concert at Gruene Hall and pencil in some time to enjoy floating the Comal or Guadalupe Rivers. This is a great way to scout some activities for your wedding guest’s, and plant some seeds of excitement for you big day on social media. Remind them, that they are going to experience the best region of Texas and a one of a kind boutique Wedding in New Braunfels!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/GE-6.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Don’t get lost in the wedding planning details in the time leading up to your event. Set boundaries and create time for one another. Share the wedding planning experience together and remember that teamwork makes the dreamwork! There will be ups and downs along the way, so plan for them and have the right perspective. Your day is going to be amazing! Love, laugh, and celebrate with the ones that you love, it’s going to be the best wedding day of your life!

Gruene Estate’s Gentleman’s Guide To Surviving Wedding Planning!

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.22″][et_pb_row custom_padding=”0px|||||” _builder_version=”3.25″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ header_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_text_color=”rgba(0,0,0,0)” header_2_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_3_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_4_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_4_text_color=”#006c84″ header_5_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” header_6_font=”Playfair Display||||||||” custom_margin=”||-115px|||” custom_padding=”0px|||||”]

While we focus mainly on wedding planning from a female’s perspective on Gruene Estate’s wedding blog, we often forget that the groom has an important part to play as well. Wedding planning is a long process, and on average Gruene Estate weddings are usually planned over the course of a year to a year and half. There are a lot of wedding details that need to be hashed out. More often then not, and there are some exceptions, we see the bride doing the majority of the planning. Gents, this wedding advice is for you! Listen carefully, because we are going to share with you some secrets on how you can support your bride-to-be on the days, weeks, and months leading up to your event.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Gruene-Estates-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”45px|||||” custom_padding=”35px|||||”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Guys, when planning the wedding, the number one thing that you have to remember is this: she wants you to be an active participant in the process! She might tell you she doesn’t care if you help, but the truth is she does. She wants your leadership. This is why your bride keeps asking you questions about planning, design and logistics. She doesn’t want to be alone! Think big picture here, the long game is the winning the strategy. While she will make all or most of the design decisions, she is going to ask you, “what do you think about …..” many times over. The wrong answer here is, “I don’t care”. This is the one phrase that should never leave your mouth during the planning process. In the short term, this the easiest answer. Remember though, you will be wedding planning on average for a year and a big picture winning strategy is one that involves you actively participating and making her feel loved. That means, thinking about her questions, acknowledging them, and then giving your sincere opinions. Be proactive and find the answers if you don’t know them shows her you care. At Gruene Estate, our engaged couples, are provided with an in-house wedding planner. If you ever find yourself in wedding planning trouble. You have a resource that can help you find solutions. A proactive approach signals to her that she is not alone in the process, and that you are there to help her when there are bumps in the wedding planning road.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Gruene-Estate-2.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

The most difficult part of planning a wedding is making the logistical pieces match up. With so many moving parts, there are going to be some stressful situations. Your event involves a long list of “to do’s”: lining up wedding vendors, wedding décor decisions, and sometimes complicated family relationships. This is where you can step in and be your ladies rock when she is in a hard place. It’s really simple (and this is great marriage advice in general), validate how she feels and DO NOT TELL HER IT’S NOT IMPORTANT, OR SHE’S OVERREACTING! Then be an active participant and help her come up with a plan b. After that, validate her again and tell her what a great job she is doing. This is called a validation sandwich, and this shouldn’t be stopped once the wedding is over. Keep doing this for the rest of your marriage!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Gruene-Estate-3.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

While we are on the subject of making your bride feel loved and validated, taking the initiative to write your vows out is an easy way to show her that you care. At Gruene Estate, we have New Braunfels’ original open-air wedding chapel, and we have witnessed lots of couples say their vows under its stained-glass windows. Our number one take away from these experiences, is that you should never try to wing your wedding vows. You want your vows to be smooth, meaningful, and heart felt. Write your vows down and work on them as a couple. Don’t wait for her to ask you to write them. Take the initiative, write them out, and then tell her you want to work on them together. This proves to her that you are an active participant, and that you care about the details of your wedding day. Plus, it’s an opportunity to connect and make her feel loved!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Gruene-Estate-4.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Don’t let your bride forget that your wedding day is a celebration. If you feel like the wedding planning process is taking over your life and relationship, then it is time for you step in and make a leadership decision for both you. Plan a trip and get away for a few days. Remember guys, were working on a long game big picture winning strategy here. Validating your significant others feelings, taking the initiative, and being involved in the process are the main ingredients for the perfect pre-wedding planning recipe. You can check all three of these boxes by organizing a quick weekend getaway or staycation for the two of you. Tell her that wedding talk is forbidden, and you just want to enjoy each other for the weekend. Let her know that you recognize how hard she has been working, and that you wanted to plan a quick break for the both of you. Emphasize that you just want to enjoy each other without the wedding planning distractions. You will be her hero.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Gruene-Estate-5.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Gruene and New Braunfels are the perfect places for an escape such as this. Book a room at Gruene Mansion Inn or at our Telegraph Station Rentals in downtown New Braunfels. Make reservations at Huisache Grille for a table of two, and then take her to a show at Gruene Hall! Major points scored!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Gruene-Estate-6.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column _builder_version=”3.26.3″ type=”4_4″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Gentleman, make sure you are an active and willing participant in planning your wedding! Don’t forget that although the time leading up to the wedding can be stressful, be there for your significant other and take the initiative to help even if she is not asking you to.   Make time for each other when it becomes stressful or overwhelming. Hopefully, these tips will help you navigate some of the mistakes of those that have gone before you. Make sure to check out some of other wedding articles and featured weddings. When you fall in love with someone, it is natural that you want to spend the rest of your life with them! You want to declare your love in front of all of your family and friends. (We know unsolicited advice is everyone’s fave!)

Swanee Browning of New Braunfels Wedding Guide says, “A small intimate wedding creates the opportunity for an abundance of personality, lavish pampering, and quality time spent in the company of those few with whom you care most!” New Braunfels Wedding Guide is your new go-to resource for all things wedding in the New Braunfels area.

There are very few tangible things you will be left with after your wedding is said and done.  The cake will be eaten, the flowers will wilt, the tuxes will be returned. But we firmly believe that investing in a great wedding photographer is super important. You won’t remember most of your wedding day- it goes by in such a complete blur. Having an amazing photographer will capture those moments forever![/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-4.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”-54px|||||”]Photo Credit- Shannon Cain Photography

We have worked with a ton of amazing photographers and any one of them would do an amazing job capturing your big day. Shannon Cain of Shannon Cain Photography stands out because of her passion to get to know her couples. During an intimate wedding or elopement that passion really comes out. Plus, her photos are jaw dropping![/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″ width=”79.8%”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Cele-5.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Cele-6.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”10px|||||”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”-42px|||||” custom_padding=”0px|||||”]Photo Credit- Shannon Cain Photography

Shannon says, “Some of my very FAVORITE weddings have been elopements and small, intimate weddings.  Sometimes the chaos of the wedding day, the decorations, the flowers, the many moving parts of a wedding, can cloud emotions.  And when you strip away those things and bring it down to what matters…it allows true, raw emotion to shine through.  When you have a small wedding or choose to opt for an elopement, the focus stops being so much about the wedding production, but instead about the sanctity of marriage and the promise being made to one another.  Without distractions.”[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-7-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”-48px|||||”]Photo Credit- Katie Webb Photography    (Doggo not included in rug rental)

Another way to create a magical ceremony space (and great photos) is to rent furniture and décor. It is such a fun way to show your personality without shelling out tons of money to buy your own pieces. The ladies of Relic Rentals add, “Elopements and intimate weddings allow couples to focus on each other, rather than getting consumed by the details.” Emily and Becky are amazing at what they do and have some really beautiful pieces. So why not let them help you out with all of the fun detail in your décor?[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-9-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-10-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”-50px|||||”]Photo Credit- Katie Webb Photography

Kristy Feland of Glam on Demand recently styled a bride for an intimate wedding due to COVID-19. They wanted to get married no matter the situation. Even in the rain!! She says, “We love intimate weddings and elopements because the couple’s intentions are solely focused on them and what matters most—their love for each other. It’s a more relaxed atmosphere and couples can really absorb each other and time with close family and friends.”[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-11-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-12-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row custom_padding=”0px|||||” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”-18px|||||”]Photo Credit- The Crakes Photography

One of our favorite things about many of the vendors in the New Braunfels area is how much they love seeing their brides so in love and happy! Renee Green of On Location Hair and Makeup believes, “Intimate weddings and elopements are so beautiful because the couple is able to focus on what’s truly important…their union and love for one another without all the added stress a ‘full wedding’ event brings!  The bride is truly glowing with happiness and excitement and radiates it!!!” As an added bonus, like the name suggests, she will travel to you (and she is one of the sweetest ladies ever!)[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”3_5,2_5″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-13-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_padding=”|7px||||”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-14-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″ width=”100%”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]It probably goes without saying, but we are gonna say it anyway- “we have wedding dresses for ceremonies of ALL sizes!” We have a selection of gowns marked $499, $699 & $899. We also know that with some wedding dates, there may not be time to order a wedding gown so we are offering $150 off any full price sample wedding dress![/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Celebrations-15-1.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”-51px|||||”]Photo Credit- Lomonico Photography

Planning a wedding under the best of times can be stressful, and during a pandemic it can feel like you are drowning in quicksand. Everything seems to change every other minute. Your Tech Savy Wedding – Leveraging Technology For Your Wedding Day by Gruene Estate

Let’s be honest, everybody is living on their phones these days. It so common, that at Gruene Estate, we try to market and create content specifically for smart phone users. Although in many ways, smart phones have the way we communicate less personal, there are many benefits to the meteoric rise in technology over the last 10 years. This is especially true for brides, grooms, and couples to be. Apps and social media platforms give brides a better opportunity to share their wedding day and create community involvement that would not have been possible in years past. As a boutique wedding venue in Gruene Texas, we want the world to see our brides beautiful Hill Country Wedding, so here are a few ideas from the Gruene Estate team on how to use technology to your advantage on your wedding day!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Gruene-Blog-3.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″ custom_margin=”45px|||||” custom_padding=”35px|||||”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Creating a hashtag for your wedding day is a great way to create excitement and social media interaction prior to your event. The unique advantage to hashtags, is that they work across multiple platforms. Whether your friends use Twitter, Instagram, or Snapchat, they can all share the same hashtag to help create buzz about your special day. Although it is a non-essential piece of your wedding day, it is a fun way to get your friends and family involved. There are lots of website’s that will generate a hashtag for you, but it is a great opportunity to create your own and imprint a personal touch on your wedding day before it even starts. A few examples we’ve seen at Gruene Estate: #becomingsmith, #itsreallyhepburning, and #jonesingforreyes. Most couples figure out a creative way to incorporate their last name into the hashtag. Gruene Estate’s hashtag is #grueneestate or #grueneweddingshoes! These days there are lots of creative ways to share your day.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Leveraging-Technology-2.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Snapchat is taking social media by storm. While Instagram is the perfect place to share your polished and edited wedding pictures, Snapchat is ideal for in the moment shots. Snapchat is a popular messaging app that lets users exchange pictures and videos (called snaps) that are meant to disappear after they’re viewed. It’s advertised as a “new type of camera” because the essential function is to take a picture or video, add filters, lenses or other effects and share them with friends. Creating your own custom wedding filter is the ideal way to get your friends involved and put your mark on your wedding day. Snapchat filters are overlays, words, or color tone changes that you can add to your picture. This is the perfect place to integrate you’re hastag, custom logo, or venues logo into your wedding day filter.

While we all love and cherish our smart phones, make sure you are clear with your guests about your expectations for when and where you want them to use their phones. At Gruene Estate, we have a beautiful open-air wedding chapel that is set on the original Gruene family farm. It creates that quintessential Texas Hill Country Wedding moment. Guests and family want to capture that moment when the antique chapel doors open and the bride enters her processional walk. For some brides, they might not mind people taking pictures or videos. For others, this in an intimate and special moment that is only meant to be shared with her husband, friends, and family. Phones can be distracting, so make sure you communicate clearly beforehand if you want that special wedding moment broadcasted to the entire world. If not, create a cute sign that politely tells guest to silence the phones or turn them off.

Speaking of broadcasting your wedding day to the world, Covid-19 is changing lives in many ways. You may have guests or friends that are considered high risk, or are traveling from out of state and cannot make the journey for your wedding day. A decade ago, this would have been a difficult problem to solve. It would have required a web cam and I.T. know how to broadcast your wedding ceremony. Fortunately, the Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram platforms have changed this by allowing users to live stream directly through their accounts on their smart phones. In all three platforms, it’s as easy as creating a post, and then hitting the “Live” button. Users and followers can interact and comment on your feed, and it allows you to post the video to your account after it ends. Ensuring that everybody is able to witness your wedding ceremony. Investing in a sturdy and reliable tripod is a great way to guarantee quality video.

Technology has given brides the ability to share their wedding day with their friends, family, and loved ones. Using popular social media apps and creative hashtags is a smart way to create excitement and guest interaction prior to and during your wedding. As wedding season moves into full swing, make sure that you are prepared to take advantage of all these wonderful technological advancements to celebrate your wedding day!

Avoid Those Wedding Day Pitfalls

New Braunfels and Gruene have truly become a one of a kind wedding destination. Gruene Estate, a wedding venue in Gruene Texas, has been a leader in the Hill Country wedding industry for almost a decade. We have seen many couple say “I Do” in our original open-air wedding chapel. Although it all comes together on the wedding day, we have witnessed some of the pit falls of the wedding planning process. Here are a few of our recommendations to avoid common wedding planning mistakes for a positive wedding planning experience.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Gruene-Estate-Avoiding-Planning-Pitfalls.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Set Realistic Budget Expectations

You don’t want to have buyer’s remorse when you see the price tag for your wedding. Create and set a realistic budget and stick to it! Do some research and make sure that you are getting the best deal possible. Ask for quotes from multiple vendors. Ensure that you understand all the cost involved with the services that you are shopping for. Is tax included? Are there extra incidentals that might be incurred that aren’t on the price tag?

Speaking of price tag, be realistic about what is affordable for your wedding budget and then look at items that fall in that price range. It very difficult to look at wedding décor, vendors or apparel that are outside of your financial wedding goals, and not being able to actually book them. Girl we know, it’s hard to say no! To stay on budget, keep a wedding spreadsheet with expenses incurred. Money spent adds up quickly and you can be over your budget before you know it.

At Gruene Estate, we created a wedding venue that doesn’t need a lot of extra décor. Our hand made wooden farm tables, original open-air Hill Country wedding chapel, the historic Gruene family homestead, and our rustic elegant reception pavilion set on 17 gorgeous Texas Hill Country acres have enough soul to satisfy the needs of any Pinterest inspired bride! In addition, we also include a wide array of décor items that are no extra cost to couples. This allows our brides to allocate money that would have been spent on décor, and use that towards hiring other wedding vendors to elevate your guests wedding experience.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Avoiding-Planning-Pitfalls-2.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Timing Is Everything!

Ensuring that your day is not rushed is essential to making sure that your wedding day goes off without a hitch. Here are the major items that to think about, and they usually occur in this order: hair and makeup, first look, wedding ceremony, photos/cocktail hour, reception, and send off. There many little items that fit in between those big ones, but this is typically the format that we see on a regular basis.

When it comes to hair and makeup, the ending time of your styling session will dictate when you can all start the dressing process. Communicate with your stylist what you want done, when it needs to be done by, and how many bridesmaids they will be styling. A mistake here will have a ripple effect throughout the rest of the day. Communicating these needs up front will ensure that you don’t end up with 2 stylists, 10 brides’ maids, and hours of work ahead if you.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Avoiding-Planning-Pitfalls-3.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

This same approach needs to be taken with your photographer as well. Have a conversation beforehand, and discuss which poses are most important and what locations are must haves. Golden light only lasts for 15-30 minutes, so having a well thought out game plan will put you in position to capture those memorable moments and that quickly fading light!

At Gruene Estate, we are the only wedding venue in New Braunfels and Gruene that provides a professional wedding coordinator for the day of your wedding. In addition to day of wedding coordinating services, she will create a day of wedding timeline that our couples create with our in-house wedding planner a month before their event. Having your time line planned out and rehearsed puts our brides in the position to be on time on their wedding day.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Avoid-Planning-Pitfalls-5.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Hiring Friendors

While we are on the topic of photographers, stylists and other vendors, it’s a good reminder to hire professional vendors that can take control of the day and deliver a great product. We all have friends that have beautiful photos on their social media feeds, or a friend who always look stylish and fashionable before a night out on the town. Those skills do not often translate into what it takes to pull off wedding day top tier quality bridal services. We have seen many friendships strained and even ended because a bride chose a friend over a professional wedding vendor. Weddings can be stressful, and hiring professional vendors who manage that stress on a regular basis will be a asset to you on your wedding day. Plus, the final product is always better. In addition, it allows you to have confidence in your wedding team and give you the chance to step back and enjoy your wedding day.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Avoid-Planning-Pifalls-6.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column _builder_version=”3.26.3″ type=”4_4″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Book Your Accommodations Early

Since you have hopefully settled on having a New Braunfels wedding, you’re going to need to make sure that your guest has a place to stay. Waiting until the last minute to book room blocks and accommodations is often an overlooked mistake made by couples in the planning process. New Braunfels and Gruene have lots of great hotels, B&B’s, and inns, but we also have a very busy social calendar. There are major events in town almost every weekend of the year, this is what makes it such a fabulous Texas wedding destination, but make sure that you look at New Braunfels and Gruene’s calendars for events that might coincide with your date. Events like Wurstfest, Gruene Wine and Music Fest, concerts at Whitewater Amphitheatre, Gruene Hall, and all summer months will often leave many hotels booked (Formula 1 and SXSW in Austin will also see rooms booked in NB). Reserve your room blocks a year in advance. Remember, you are just holding the rooms, your guests are going to be the ones that pay for them. Communicate to your guest on your wedding website where the room block options are located.

Gruene Estate has onsite overnight accommodations in our historic Gruene family home that are available for both the bride and groom as well as the wedding party. We also have several historic vacation rentals that are Texas State Historic Landmarks in the heart of downtown New Braunfels. Our units, The Telegraph Stations 1 and 2, and the Historic Ludwig House are well over 100 years old. Between the three units, we can sleep up to 20 guests on one property. The location is ideal as we are a block from the plaza in downtown New Braunfels, one block from the Tube Chute on the Comal River, and a short 3-minute drive from Gruene Estate. Are vacation properties are ideally located for your wedding party and guests to take advantage of all that New Braunfels has to offer as a wedding destination.

Having been in the wedding business for almost 10 years, Gruene Estate has helped many couples navigate the pitfalls of the wedding planning process. We are Gruene’s first wedding venue, Gruene Texas’ original historic open-air wedding chapel, and we have been named one of the best wedding venues in the Texas Hill Country by TheKnot.com and Weddingwire.com. Through our experience as wedding professionals, we have witnessed many weddings and lots of bridal photo shoots. There are many details that you need to consider when planning your wedding. Sometimes, the finer points of the wedding planning process are unintentionally left out. These small details make a big difference. Prepping for your wedding day photos is one of those moments. A well thought out plan and some practice will help you capture those images that you will cherish for a lifetime!

 [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/EmilyThomas_weddingparty-4.jpg-Gruene-Estate.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]Do Some Research, Have a Plan

Reach out to your photographer before the day of your wedding, and ask them for some galleries from previous weddings that they have shot. What are their favorites? Are there certain poses that require more time? Are they concerned about timing and taking advantage of golden light? There are so many beautiful locations to shoot your photos at Gruene Estate. Between the rolling hay fields, our Texas longhorns and paint horses, and our gorgeous open-air wedding chapel, we have all of the elements that make us a one of a kind Texas Hill Country Wedding Venue in the heart of Historic Gruene Texas. Plan out the session before hand with your photographer and make sure that you aren’t rushed from one spot to the next. This allows you to capture the beauty and intimacy of your wedding in a non-stressful and fun way![/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/EmilyThomas_BG-100.jpg-3-scaled.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]Mani/Pedi Time

Make sure you look fabulous for your wedding photos and get some girl time in with some of your besties. A manicure with your bride tribe not only ensures some well needed girl time, but it also keeps those nails looking beautiful and camera ready. Your gorgeous wedding ring should be in the photo, so make sure your nails look beautiful and compliment your diamond. Gruene Day Spa is the perfect place for that mani/pedi, and they do messages too.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/CT-1052.jpg-4.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]Practice, Practice, Practice

It’s a good idea to try some of the poses and photos that you might find yourself in on your wedding day. Do a hair and makeup trial run. Grab your camera and practice. This is a great opportunity to spend a fun day in Gruene with your fiancé. There are so many memorable locations to get some authentic Texas wedding photos at: Gruene Hall, Gruene General Store, and shots by the Guadalupe River at the Gruene Crossing to name a few.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/CT-0964.jpg-Gruene-Estate-55.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]Work The Camera

Proper body position and the correct pose for your photos is essential to capturing those gorgeous wedding moments. Angle your body to the camera, and if you have a “good side” then use it. Try to keep yourself from facing the camera straight on. Elongate your neck by pressing your shoulders down and toward the camera while slightly lifting your chin up. Keep your arms away from your body, and hold your bouquet at your hip. This creates separation from your dress, and will make your arms look thinner as well as emphasizing a defined waistline. This creates a longer and leaner look which in turn makes you the center of the photograph![/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Gruene-Estate-Blog-e1587218127241.jpg” _builder_version=”3.26.3″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.26.3″][et_pb_column _builder_version=”3.26.3″ type=”4_4″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″]

Hair & Makeup Tips for Brides

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

One of the first questions I often receive is how soon should I book hair and makeup for my wedding?

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.3″][et_pb_column type=”2_3″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.7″]

At Glam on Demand, to ensure their wedding day is secure, our brides book 6 months to 1 year in advance. So, if you are planning a wedding during the week or on a Sunday, you may get lucky but you’ll want to plan ahead anyway. However, if you are planning an April or October wedding, know that these are the TWO BUSIEST wedding months of the year. And if you are looking at any other months, I’d say a good 4-5 months is a good time frame to book a hair and makeup team.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/NBWG-GOD-now-booking.png” align=”center” _builder_version=”3.22.7″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″ custom_margin=”18px|||||”]

Is a bridal trial necessary?

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row custom_padding=”||3px|||” _builder_version=”3.22.3″][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/NBWG-GOD-Hairstyles.png” align=”center” _builder_version=”3.22.7″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_3″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.7″]

I always recommend a bridal trial anywhere from 2-3 months before your wedding. This ensures that both the bride and hair stylist/makeup artist are on the same page.

We ask our brides to send a current photo and several inspirational photos for us to review. Pinterest has great inspirational pictures. Your makeup artist and hair stylist’s portfolios are another good place to look.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.3″ min_height=”581px”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.7″ custom_margin=”-13px|||||”]

During the appointment, it gives the bride and stylist a time to get to know one another and share more details:

  • Is the ceremony and reception outside?
  • What month is the bride getting married?
  • Does the bride have super thick, curly hair and need extra time for the stylist?
  • What will the weather be like?
  • Should the bride’s hair be up or down?
  • Does the bride have thin hair and want to do extensions?
  • Is the bride allergic or sensitive to any product?
  • Does the bride want more of a glammed up look or a natural makeup look?
  • Do the stylists need to bring any extra products when it comes to hair and makeup?
  • Does the bride want traditional or airbrush makeup?
  • Will the bride be wearing a veil?

Having these questions answered during a bridal trial helps everything run smoothly on the day of the wedding. It also ensures we have scheduled the appropriate time needed with the bride.

I always recommend booking the bridal trial the same day as bridal portraits or on the day of a wedding shower. Because if you are going to get glammed up already, you might as well knock out two birds with one stone!

Traditional vs. Airbrush Makeup?

When it comes to makeup, it’s about the application process and your preference.

No matter what route you choose with makeup, your makeup artist will do their best to give you a flawless finish. Of course, some factors to consider are your skin type and what the weather will be like the day of your wedding.

Traditional makeup can deliver a flawless finish. When

applied with brushes and beauty blenders (sponges) and is known for being the most versatile. This type of makeup can be used as both a simple, basic sheer tint of coverage or used to target specific needs.

Airbrush foundation is thinner than a regular liquid foundation. Either water or silicone based.  This fine misted spray provides flawless coverage. Evening out the skin’s imperfections while still allowing your skin to breath. Plus feels more lightweight than traditional makeup. Applying airbrush foundation makeup requires more tools and equipment which means it may cost more.

Depending on the weather and if you tend to perspire, you may need to apply powder throughout the night. Remember, if you are perspiring or shedding tears, always blot, never rub your makeup. Both traditional and airbrush makeup will last hours with a great primer.

It’s always good to arrive with a clean, fresh face on the day of your wedding. The makeup artist will prep your skin whether you have oily, dry or combination skin. On your wedding day, your makeup artist will suggest you wear a little more makeup for photo purposes. You want to feel comfortable but don’t want to look washed out in your wedding photos.

Should I wear hair extensions on my wedding day?

The look you are trying to achieve will determine whether you will need extensions. For example, if you have thin hair and are want long, Victoria Secret wavy hair, then yes you will need them!

Extensions can help in creating length and volume. There are several types of hair extensions. There are bonded, tape in and clip in extensions to name a few.

Bonded extensions are more costly but can last up to 6 months. You will have to go in every few months to

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.3″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.7″ min_height=”159px” custom_margin=”-20px|||||” custom_padding=”0px|||||”]

have them re-bonded closer to your scalp as they grow out. Tape in extensions will last about 6-8 weeks. As they grow out, they will need to be re-applied closer to the scalp. Bonded and tape in extensions can be very harsh and damaging to the hair. Most brides opt for clip in extensions the day-of because they are cheaper and can be re-used in the future. You will also want to make sure the clip-ins are made of real human hair so that they can withstand heat from the hot tools.

Should my hair be clean or “dirty” on the day of my wedding?

Some stylists like brides to have a day or two of “dirty” hair. The natural oils can be helpful depending on the desired look. However, some people tend to get a little oilier than others.

I, now, suggest clean dry hair for the day of. Hair stylists have plenty of products (texture spray, hair powder, and hair spray) to “dirty” up hair if need be.

Thoughts about eyelashes on my wedding day?

I always recommend eyelashes on your wedding day. Eyelashes make everything “pop” and look amazing in photos. Some options are a lash serum, lash extensions, lash strips or individual lashes.

An eyelash serum can be used daily and I ‘ve seen pretty impressive results.

Eyelash extensions are great if you already have them. If not, they are quite a bit of upkeep, can be costly and also damaging to your existing eyelashes.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.3″ min_height=”140px”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.7″ min_height=”149px” custom_margin=”-23px|||||”]

A majority of brides opt for strip lashes or individual lashes. They look great and can be removed the same night as the wedding. And if applied properly, means that your existing lashes should not be damaged at all.

Depending on the goal, your makeup artist can create a natural or dramatic look using extensions, strip or individual lashes. Strip or individual lashes may be a price add-on to your makeup service. Although some makeup artist will include them in the makeup pricing.

Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/blurry-image-of-caucasian-three-women-20s-wearing-GBLDHNP.jpg” _builder_version=”3.22.2″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

Unless you are told otherwise, bridal shower gift etiquette requires you bring a gift if you are attending. If you decline the invitation, you are not required to send a gift. The purpose of a bridal shower is to shower the bride or couple with gifts that will help them get started in their new life.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

Sometimes there will be a separate bridal shower registry. Otherwise, there will be less expensive, less fancy options on the registry, like pots and pans. These are proper for a bridal shower. Using the registry will help you pick out what the couple actually needs. Sometimes, the shower will have a theme, and the registry or suggested gifts will reflect that theme. If the shower is clearly labeled a kitchen shower, be sure to bring an appropriate gift.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

Wedding Gift Amount

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]
  • So you’ve been invited to a wedding, or two, or seven. Keep in mind,  that weddings can get expensive, not just for the bride and groom or the bridal party but for guests too. If your budget can’t fit a wedding, generously decline the invite. You are, however, still expected to send a gift. This gift, though, can be less than what you might have spent had you attended.
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]
  •  It used to be said that guests should estimate how much it will cost the couple per person for those attending the wedding, and the gift should be worth that much. (If the cost is $100 per person and you are attending with a plus one, the gift should be worth $200.) We think your best bet is to figure in the budget, relationship with the couple, and any travel or lodging expense, and to go from there.
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]
  • Keep in mind that in urban areas, more money is spent on gifts. Similarly, more affluent areas, of course, have a higher spending average. For more formal events, guests tend to give on the high side of the scale.
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]
  • If you are in the bridal party, you are still expected to spend the same amount you would have if you didn’t accept the invitation to be in the bridal party. If you are strapped for cash, you can always give something less expensive but meaningful.
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]
  •  Experts strongly suggest spending at least $50.
[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″ background_color=”#6eb5c0″ box_shadow_style=”preset1″ custom_margin=”||” custom_padding=”5px||5px|10px”]

Here is the suggested total wedding gift amount:

  • Co-workers/Distant Family $50-$75
  • Friends/Family $75-$100
  • Close Friends $100-$150
  • Close Family $150+
[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″ background_color=”#6eb5c0″ border_color_all=”rgba(0,0,0,0)” box_shadow_style=”preset1″ custom_padding=”5px||5px|10px”]

If you are invited to multiple events, use this breakdown:

  • 20% Engagement Gift
  • 20% Bridal Shower
  • 60% Wedding Gift

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

What to Give

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

Ask someone in the bridal party if there is a registry. If the couple has a registry, use it! Some call it lazy gift giving, but really it’s giving the couple what they want. There is nothing wrong with using the registry to guide gift giving. If you can’t choose what to give off of the registry, you can choose to give a gift card to the store.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/love-gifts-PY4UQB6.jpg” _builder_version=”3.22.2″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

If you’d rather get creative, it is best to know what the couple would like. For instance, arrange a gourmet gift basket reflecting one of their interests. This is a good way to save a bit of money while still giving a meaningful present. Remember, giving them something they can’t use is a waste of your money. On that note, always include a receipt. If you are partial to giving the couple cash or check, that is accepted as well. Currently, it is becoming more common for a couple to have a registry or fund for their honeymoon. You might want to contribute to that as well.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

Destination Wedding Etiquette

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/destination-wedding-concept-using-two-hand-pints-PX3AYB7-copy.jpg” _builder_version=”3.22.2″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

If you are spending a lot of money to get to a wedding (transportation and lodging), it is okay to spend less on the gift.

How much less is up to you.

Though, it is still expected that you give a gift.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

Wedding Etiquette Plus One

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

When attending a wedding with a guest, it is customary to give a gift worth a bit more. Since the couple will be paying for each guest individually, experts suggest the gift be more generous. Some propose double, though we don’t think that is completely necessary.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_image src=”https://nbweddingguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/event-decoration-PFPQBZN-2.jpg” _builder_version=”3.22.2″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.22.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.22.2″]

Friend or family member of the wedding couple, no matter which of the above scenarios you find yourself, the most important thing to remember is the thoughtfulness behind your gift!
