The Gruene Estate, the original Gruene homestead, spreads over 15 acres in New Braunfels, Texas located between Austin and San Antonio. The secluded property consists of several structures including the 1857 home of Ernst and Antoinette Gruene, a charming wedding chapel.
Accompanying up to 12 overnight guests and 200 event guests, Gruene Estate offers daily and overnight rentals near Austin and San Antonio. It’s an ideally situated location for those looking for an elegant Texas country wedding.

There’s no way my dream wedding wouldn’t include Gruene Estate. I live in Ohio but dreamed of having my Texas wedding for this Texas lady! I knew that planning a wedding away from the venue wouldn’t be easy, but I was so wrong! Gruene Estate made every step so easy from a tour before booking to the big day! Katherine, Carey, Stephanie and Nolan were so easy to communicate with and kept me up to date with everything I needed. I fell in love with the natural beauty that GE offers! The open chapel is gorgeous and offered beautiful pictures that my guest loved! It’s been 3 weeks and I still get comments about the chapel especially the stained glass and ringing the bell! There was even entertainment for the kids at the wedding. They loved seeing real longhorns and horses, plus the games! Our reception was so special to us, our friends were just wowed with how relaxing the environment was! My husband was so excited about cigars and whiskey around the fire pit. While I loved the easy of meeting all our guest because of the layout! We had so much space but still felt close enough to talk to everyone. I had about 85 total guests who weren’t trapped inside a single space but could meander to the fire pit, by the game space, to the dance floor or even back to the chapel for their own photo op! Between the rustic decor, natural woods, and outdoor touches this venue was so easy to fall in love with.
My husband and I were married at Gruene Estate in June and it was absolutely perfect! We wanted a very laid back, stress free, fun wedding and that is exactly what we got. We live a couple hours away and knew it would be somewhat of a destination for many of our friends and family. We had a shorter 6 month engagement but the Gruene Estate team was very helpful in our planning and suggesting the perfect local vendors for our big day! They setup conference calls with us, made sure we knew exactly what decorations were available, help us develop our wedding details and timeline, and gave us many ideas/ tips through the process. They day of the wedding was very stress free, decorating went smoothly, and our onsite coordinator was on top of everything! The décor, farm tables, animals, yard games, stunning chapel, church bells, & chandeliers all helped perfectly capture the Texas summer ambience we envisioned. We got to sit back and enjoy the beautiful house and venue with all our loved ones. We chose to get married on a Friday night and our guests absolutely loved the Gruene Estate atmosphere and they still got to experience a full New Braunfels/ Gruene weekend. We got so many compliments! And we cannot wait to plan anniversary weekends in Gruene, reminisce about our big day, and visit the place that will always be so special to us, Gruene Estates!
As soon as we set foot on the property of Gruene Estate, my husband and I knew that this was the perfect place for us to be married. Throughout our reception, we got compliment after compliment on how gorgeous both the chapel and reception hall are! Having the longhorns out to pasture during the reception was a great photo-op for our UT alumni guests, and the wide-open nature of the reception area made for plenty of drinking, dancing, and picture taking throughout the night. The major selling point for this venue has to be the amazing staff. We had two wedding coordinators, plus a host of day-of staff, who were working with us from Day 1 to get all of our details organized. During our wedding day, our coordinator made sure that we always had a water and cold beer in our hands during picture-taking, and she was always one step ahead of any issue that I could’ve anticipated. Gruene Estate is a gorgeous venue that will seriously impress your guests – I can’t imagine getting married anywhere else!!
Gruene Estate was the PERFECT place for our June wedding! Not only is the venue beautiful but the the whole staff at Gruene Estate was so helpful. From the day I visited they were willing and able to help with every aspect of my wedding! By the day my wedding came around, I was so comfortable and able to relax because I knew that day-of-coordinator would take care of anything that needed to be settled. We were married in the evening and the weather was better than we could have imagined so the open air chapel and reception hall were perfect! I couldn’t imagine having my wedding anywhere other than this venue! I HIGHLY recommend Gruene Estate to any and every bride!
The Gruene Estate embodied what I envisioned in my dreams! The whole experience was great. From the first message inquiring information, to the final walk through, everyone was always punctual, polite and willing to help answer any question or concern that I might have. Both Carey and Stephanie were so reassuring about how great the wedding would be that after I met with them on the final walk through, I knew that we were in great hands and that we would actually get to enjoy the night! Having a day-of coordinator really made everything run smoothly! Our guests are still raving about how wonderful the whole thing turned out! FAQ
Booking
A non-refundable deposit of $500 & signed contract is required to reserve your date for live painting services. All custom painting commissions done in studio require a 50% deposit. Due to high demand it is recommended to book as early as possible especially for peak Texas wedding season in the Fall. Availability is not guaranteed but in the event I am already booked, please inquire about my custom commissions from photographs.
Consultation
A few weeks prior to your event, I will consult with you about the final details of the big day, including final timeline, floor plans, decor, and all the details that you would like incorporated in the scene. Upon consultation I will create a mock sketch for you to approve the final layout of your painting.
Arrival
The day of your event I will arrive 2-3 hours prior to the ceremony start to set up and begin painting.
Painting Hours
I will paint on site live at your event for approximately 5-10 hours depending on the size of the canvas and the level of detail chosen.
Painting Completion
Your live Wedding Painting will be 80-95% complete by the end of the event. I will complete additional details in studio and the finished painting will be available for pick up or shipping 6-12 weeks after your event. For the exception of Clients purchasing greeting cards, they will have their paintings will have an expedited completion of 2-4 weeks post event.
Accommodations
Some venues such as Churches will not allow for a live artist to paint in the interior. In such cases there are limitations at a ceremony site, I will take reference photos of the ceremony and paint live at the reception. Please designate a 5’x5’ space at the reception with access to an electrical outlet and extra chair. To maintain the top quality of your artwork, outdoor painting spaces can be designated if weather conditions are not rainy, not excessively windy, not in direct sun with over a 90 degree temperature, or in temperatures below 50 degrees.
Final Payment
The full balance for live painting services will be due 1 week prior to your event. All custom painting commissions must be paid for in full upon the paintings completion before delivery
Cancellations
Due to high demand, ALL deposits & money paid towards your painting is non-refundable. If you wish to cancel services, you may use any funds paid towards your live painting service towards a future event or custom commission done in studio.
