We’re Luke and Michelle at Bird Haus Farms. Having met at the University of Texas over a decade ago, we got married in Austin. Both of us are from small towns in Texas and have lived in the Bulverde/Spring Branch area for the past 8 years. We love it here. We have 3 kids ages 6 and under, 3 barn cats, a flock of chickens, and a few cows. We love going on family walks and being outdoors.
We bought our 20 acres in February of 2019. Luke drove away from the title company office with his chainsaw in hand to start clearing the land. We had a lot of cedar to clear! We built our house and then a guest house a few months later. We put the guest house on Airbnb in the summer of 2020 just for fun, and we were hooked. We had so much fun hosting! We built a smaller house shortly after and started renting that in the fall of 2020. The next summer we purchased and remodeled two tiny houses! Now we have 4 rentals on our 20 acres along with an RV space which is listed on Hipcamp.
Our favorite thing about hosting is seeing others enjoy this beautiful property. It truly is a gift. We have a spectacular view of the ‘twin sisters’ and wildlife all around. You can expect a clean and comfortable space when you visit. We leave handwritten notes, snacks for our guests, and fresh eggs when available. Most recently we added a swimming hole to the property, a private and welcoming watering hole with a rope swing! We offer day passes as well via Geoji- (https://www.geoji.com/g/Bird-Haus-Farms-Lagoon-3373).
We find joy in serving others and providing an atmosphere for guests to be still and connect with friends and family. We have dreams to grow a large garden and add more amenities to the property. We hope you are able to come visit and enjoy the hill country as much as we do! Follow along in our journey @birdhausfarms and view our website at birdhausfarms.org.
